Okay, so I barely managed to reply to comments today and squint at my flist (seriously, can't surf for porn in my parents' house; I CAN do it tomorrow at work, however) but I did find the time to do something non-porn related.

To cleanse myself from the wank and my tl;dr thinky thoughts of doom (er, sorry about that, btw) and in order to spread some fandom love, I went and friended EVERYBODY on my "Friend of" list. I no longer have a "Friend of" list and I no longer will. I was wary of friending strangers thinking they could be some random crazy people (but then I realized I'm crazy, too) or bots, but as Cheryl says, bots need porn, too.

I was shocked to discover that I failed to friend some people who I actually know. *facepalm* (Sorry, guys!) That will never happen again because from now on I friend back automatically.

Lurkers, welcome. I still won't comment on your personal posts if you haven't said hi because I'll assume that you don't really want to talk to me (but if something godforbid bad happens to you, I'll give you a squishy hug, and you'll just have to deal with that. I promise I don't smell bad.) Okay, right now I smell like wet dog, but, um, these are special circumstances.

Question

I saw you guys have been oppressing new authors while I was away. :) I don't have much to say on that specific subject because the last time after such discussions I ended up spending months on writing A Beginner's Guide. I wish more people pimped it so more new authors could see it, but that never happened. But oh well, I did what I could and I'm pleased because now, when someone gets accused of oppressing new authors, I can pat myself on the back and say, "Even if they mean you, they're just wrong and you know it." All my thoughts are there, including suggestions on how to package and sell your fics and how to get readership. I have nothing more to offer except continue to review and rec fics I like, no matter who wrote them.

However, I'm troubled by something else. As I read some threads yesterday, I realized that I'm doing some things differently. And now I'm worried that I'm not being as kind and as encouraging as I thought. So here is a list of my priorities and reading and reviewing habits. If you have time, please tell me: 1) Am I doing it wrong? and 2) How are you doing it?

RL will eat me, I'm sure.

I've been trying to learn a bit of css (for money-related purposes) and for some reason, it's a lot more fun to practice my mad skillz by making LJ layouts than doing serious stuff. Where did my free time go? I'm not complaining because hey, I have a job, but I've been working for a week and it feels like forever. First week (last week) went really well, but not without bruises. I mean that literally. I'm working with Mr. YoungEagerAndClumsy. On Wednesday he decided he really needed to get somewhere fast and he rushed past me and shoved me (SHOVED ME!) into a door. I have a bruise to prove it. It's right next to my left eyebrow where I still have a fancy scar thanks to my car accident last year. But it's no longer fancy now that there's a bruise below it. :( Is he really that uncoordinated or is this how young people pick up girls these days? Because he spent the rest of the week constantly asking me, "Are you okay? Does it hurt?" and he kept trying to touch (TOUCH!) the bruise. OMGWTF? Seriously? Am I supposed to be turned on by shoving? Oh yeah, baby! Give it to me harder! What happened to "So where you're from?" I liked "So where you're from?" It didn't GIVE ME BRUISES. He is cute, though.

I missed birthdays and I'm sorry. So Happy Belated Birthday to kalimai, adores_draco and megyal! I hope you had lovely bdays! I have some tame pics and not so tame pics for you.

Still happy, but not really fandom-y productive. I mean, I'm not working YET, as I said, next month, BUT I'm just so HYPER. Maybe people who had spend a couple of months at home doing absolutely nothing can understand, but I feel like someone gave me wings. I was beginning to feel useless and unsociable. Um. Well. I WAS useless and unsociable. And normally, I REALLY like being around people. (As long as they leave me alone when I want them to leave me alone.) This "staying at home" experience has been really hard and depressing. So for the most part, these days, I'm SOCIALIZING and unfortunately I'm not around here much.

So. I spent the last couple of days running around and flailing like a crazy person. (Okay, okay, I was crazier than usual.) I barely checked my flist or well, talked to RL people.
